If you're a teen, a young adult, or the parent of one, and something feels like it's not working? You're in the right place. Maybe it's school, maybe it's motivation, maybe it's a frustration that nobody seems to get. I build real connections with the young people I work with, and we figure things out together at a pace that actually makes sense.

My Story & Approach

Hey! My name is Carlin Olynyk (he/him) and I'm a Registered Provisional Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP), registered since 2021. As a Registered Provisional Psychologist, I practise under the supervision of a Registered Psychologist, meeting all requirements set by CAP. I hold a Master of Counselling from City University of Seattle (2020) and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Mount Royal University. I'm also a Registered Behaviour Technician, an EMDRIA-trained EMDR therapist, and Emotion-Focused Therapy Externship trained.

Over the past 19 years, I've had the privilege of working with young people and families across a range of settings, from in-home and school-based behaviour support with Autism Partnership, to six years as a positive behaviour strategist with Rocky View Schools. That background gives me a deep understanding of how kids and teens think, learn, and grow, and it shapes everything I do in the therapy room at OBP's Nauton House location in Airdrie.

I individually tailor my approach to each client, drawing from Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), and person-centred approaches. I provide both counselling and psychoeducational assessments for children and youth in Airdrie, with evening and Saturday appointments available. I also enjoy incorporating movement and the outdoors when it fits. We might head to Fletcher Park to shoot hoops or play disc golf if that helps conversation flow more naturally.

My skills are best suited for children and teens experiencing:

  • Oppositional Defiant Disorder and Conduct Disorder

  • Peer and family conflicts

  • Self-esteem and emotional regulation challenges

  • Problematic technology use

  • Psychoeducational assessments

  • ADD, ADHD, and ASD-related issues

  • Anxiety and depression

Outside of counselling, you might find me rock climbing, playing padel, or skateboarding along the river with my dalmatian tucked into a backpack (although we're on hiatus until my back pain improves). If you think we'd be a good fit, I'd love to hear from you.
