You're looking for a change, even if you're not sure what that looks like yet. Maybe you used to enjoy things that now feel flat, or you're carrying something from the past that still shows up uninvited. You want a therapist who is direct but won't push you harder than you're ready for. Someone who brings both expertise and warmth, and maybe a bit of humour when it helps.

My Story & Approach

Hello! I'm Christine Cimolai (she/her), a Registered Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP), registered since 2014. I hold a Master of Education in School and Applied Child Psychology from the University of Calgary (2014) and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Lethbridge (2009). For more than two decades, I've had the privilege of working with children, adolescents, adults, and families across school, community, and private practice settings, including early roles in behaviour consultation, early childhood intervention, and supporting multidisciplinary teams working with children with autism and ADHD.

My background in child and developmental psychology continues to shape how I understand people and their experiences. In therapy, I support people navigating anxiety, emotional regulation challenges, trauma, postpartum adjustment, and life transitions. My approach is trauma-informed and integrative, drawing from Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), attachment-informed therapy, and psychodynamic perspectives. I tend to be direct but gentle, and humour often finds its way into sessions when it helps people feel more comfortable exploring difficult things.

I provide both counselling and psychoeducational assessments for youth and adults at OBP's Airdrie and Calgary locations, with outdoor walk-and-talk sessions available in Calgary and virtual therapy throughout Alberta. Assessments help clarify profiles related to ADHD, learning differences, and emotional functioning so that families, schools, and individuals can better understand how their brains work and what supports may help them thrive.

Outside of work, you'll find me walking our rescue dog (and doing a bit of amateur dog psychology), cheering on my two daughters at the hockey rink, or camping with my family in the summer or winter. Our family also understands the unique rhythm of rotational work and the balancing act that comes with it.
