You're at a point where something needs to shift, but you're not sure what, or how. Maybe you're feeling stuck, disconnected from who you used to be, or quietly overwhelmed by a transition you thought you'd handle better. If the idea of therapy feels intimidating, know that this is a space to slow down and make sense of things, not one more thing to perform in.

My Story & Approach

Hello, I'm Tiffany Newman (she/her/hers), a Registered Provisional Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP), registered since 2024. As a Registered Provisional Psychologist, I practise under the supervision of a Registered Psychologist, meeting all requirements set by CAP. I hold a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University (2023) and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Conflict Resolution Studies from the University of Winnipeg (2004). I am also a Certified Child and Youth Care Counsellor (CCYCC) and a Phase I Certified Clinician in the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics through the ChildTrauma Academy.

Before becoming a psychologist, I spent over 20 years working in child and youth mental health across residential and community settings, progressing from youth and family counsellor to clinical and program leadership roles, supervising multidisciplinary teams and supporting treatment planning. I also taught post-secondary courses in addiction studies, child and youth care, and trauma-informed practice. This work has given me a deep appreciation for how life experiences shape us and how powerful it can be to have the right support while navigating difficult terrain.

My approach to therapy is collaborative, respectful, and strength-based. I draw from trauma-informed care, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Solution-Focused Therapy, tailoring our work to your goals and unique experiences. I provide both counselling and psychoeducational assessments for children, youth, and adults at OBP's Nauton House location in Airdrie, with outdoor walk-and-talk sessions also available.

Outside of work, you'll find me at our seasonal camping spot, on the ski hill, or exploring the outdoors with my family. I'm happiest anywhere near the mountains. I also love good food, good company, and I'm always working on perfecting my sourdough bread. I think of therapy a bit like sitting around a campfire: a space to slow down, reflect, share stories, and make sense of experiences in a safe and supportive environment.
