My Story & Approach

My name is Karli and I am a registered psychologist with Off the Beaten Path Psychology and Wellness. I offer counselling to adults across a broad range of ages and experiences. I welcome clients who are both familiar and comfortable with therapy and those who are new and may be nervous about taking the first step to accessing support.

I take a collaborative and relational approach that starts with building trust and creating safety together and recognizes the therapeutic relationship as an agent of change. Then we can explore in more depth about your hopes, goals, history and more about your story and the challenges you are currently facing.

I will use a variety of approaches including a psychodynamic approach, EMDR, attachment based modalities, and some cognitive behavioural elements. I particularly enjoy working with clients who want to introspect and learn more about all parts of themselves, explore their identity, connect with emotions, and address the early experiences that impact their present lives. We may work together to improve symptoms of depression, anxiety, stress, and burnout, to cope with symptoms of ADHD, for support through life transitions, to address trauma, and to explore identity, emotions, and needs. Sessions can be done at the Airdrie office, walking in Airdrie, or through telehealth. I also offer individual intensive sessions to current clients if it is a good fit.

I have 8 years of experience as a psychologist working in both school and private practice settings with children and adults. Prior to that I was a teacher for 7 years working in elementary classrooms as a teacher and across the grades as a learning support teacher and mental health support teacher.

I am EMDR basic trained (2022), have completed an Emotion Focused Therapy externship (2023), and The Essentials of Psychoanalysis program through the Toronto Institute for Psychoanalysis (2025), in addition to attending other smaller professional workshops and conferences. I seek regular consultation and enjoy learning and strengthening my skills as a psychologist.

Additionally, I do my own therapeutic work with a psychologist and can understand and empathize with the courage it takes to get support and work towards change. I do my best to show up authentically and offer a caring yet direct approach.

I am affirming and welcoming to people of all gender and sexual identities and orientations. My office is located up a set of stairs, please reach out if you require accommodations for accesability.
