You've been managing, maybe for a long time, but managing isn't the same as thriving. Whether it's anxiety that won't quiet down, a relationship that's lost its footing, or a child who's struggling and you're not sure how to help, you're looking for someone who will meet the full picture, not just the surface. I work with individuals, couples, and families, and I tailor the approach to what you actually need.
My Story & Approach
Hello! I am Jennifer McIntee-Leinweber (she/her), a Registered Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP #5625). I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Calgary, a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University, and a Certificate in Addiction Education from McMaster University. With over 25 years of experience across education and psychology, including roles as a teacher, school counsellor, and school administrator. I bring a deep understanding of how people learn, grow, and navigate challenge at every stage of life.
I provide counselling for adults, couples, youth, and children (ages 8 and up) at OBP's Nauton House location in Airdrie, with outdoor walk-and-talk sessions, virtual therapy throughout Alberta, and therapy intensives also available. I draw from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT). For couples, I use the Gottman Method (Level 2) and the Couples Developmental Model, and I offer specialized Cognitive Behavioural Conjoint Therapy for couples navigating PTSD. For families dealing with childhood anxiety and OCD, I'm a SPACE provider: a parent-based approach that empowers parents to make meaningful changes.
I also provide psychoeducational assessments for children and youth and social-emotional assessments for adults to better understand ADHD, mood, and anxiety. Think of me as a compassionate mirror, I see the patterns, I name them with care, and I hold space for what comes next.
These days you'll find me training for sprint triathlons (yes, the training is the real reward), lacing up skates at the rink, or breathing in fresh air outside. I still reach for a printed newspaper on weekend mornings and then immediately check my phone for breaking news. I'm a bit of a walking contradiction, and proud of it. I look forward to meeting you.
