My Story and Approach
Hello! I am Jennifer McIntee-Leinweber, (she/her), a Registered Psychologist with over 20 years of experience working with children, adolescents, and adults. I am dedicated to helping individuals reach their full potential. Counselling can provide support for those experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, substance use, stress, or difficulties with daily life. Together, attainable and personalized goals will be developed, along with practical coping strategies to facilitate positive change.
I provide therapy using various approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). My expertise extends to trauma-focused therapies such as EMDR and Cognitive Processing Therapy. In the area of relationships, I utilize the Gottman Method (Level 2) and the Couples Developmental Model, and can offer specialized intensive therapy for couples dealing with PTSD.
With my background in education as a teacher, administrator, and school counselor, I'm excited to jump in as your psychologist! I bring a special perspective to working with kids, teens, and families needing a bit of extra support. For those dealing with anxiety and OCD, I'm a SPACE provider. That's a parenting approach that empowers parents to make changes in their own actions to help their child thrive—no need to try and change the child directly. Through SPACE, you'll learn skills and tools to support your child in overcoming anxiety, OCD, and related challenges.
I also provide in-depth psychoeducational evaluations for children and young people, looking at how they think, learn, and adapt. This helps figure out learning profiles, any potential disabilities, and where they excel, which is super useful for school plans and support. For adults, I also provide social-emotional assessments to understand things like ADHD, mood, and anxiety. Assessments consider our emotional experiences, behaviors, and thinking to help with diagnosis, treatment, and learn ways to better handle mental health.
Seeking an alternative to traditional office counselling? I offer outdoor therapy sessions combining movement (walking/jogging) with psychotherapy. This approach blends the healing power of nature with the mood-boosting benefits of exercise, fostering clarity and enhanced self-esteem. If you're looking for a calm and compassionate therapeutic style, I'm here to support your progress, whatever your needs.
