My Story and Approach
Hello! My name is Jennifer (she/her). I am a Registered Psychologist who has over 18 years of experience working with children, adolescents, and adults. I am passionate about helping people be their best selves. Whether you are experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship issues, substance use, stress, or are having difficulty with meeting the demands of daily life, counselling may be able to help! Together we will develop attainable and customized goals that meet your needs, develop useful coping strategies, and create some forward momentum.
As an EMDR-trained therapist, I use a variety of approaches including cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and solution-focused counselling. I am trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy, and have achieved Provider Status. I am trained in the Gottman Method (Level 2), and provide services to couples looking to strengthen their relationship. I also have specialized training in substance use disorders, have a certificate in Addiction Education, and am able to provide services for people who may be experiencing concurrent disorders.
With extensive experience in the education sector in a variety of roles including classroom teacher, administrator, and school counsellor, I look forward to working with you in the capacity of psychologist! I provide a unique lens to helping children, adolescents and families who may require additional supports. A psychoeducational assessment can offer insight into how your child or adolescent thinks, learns, and copes. I am pleased to offer assessment services for children and adolescents.
Speaking with someone face to face in an office environment can be daunting! I combine movement (walking/running) with psychotherapy for individuals who are looking for a less traditional approach to counselling. Combining the healing aspect of nature with the positive endorphins that are released through activity, can allow you to develop additional clarity and better self-esteem. Regardless of the services you are seeking, my style is calm and compassionate and I look forward to helping you move forward!
