Approach

Hi! My name is Carlin Olynyk and I’m a Registered Provisional Psychologist working in Calgary and Airdrie with Off the Beaten Path. I provide compassionate and evidence-based support to youth and their families as they navigate the unique challenges and joys of adolescence. I aim to empower teens to take ownership of their lives and make positive changes by exploring their feelings, developing healthy coping skills, and building their self-esteem. I also try to individually tailor my approach to my clients, using a blend of behaviourist, cognitive-behavioural, narrative and person-centered theories to guide my practice. I also enjoy going outdoors with clients, when it fits for them. For example, we might head over to Fletcher Park to have a round of disc golf during our session.

Background

Over the past 15 years, I have worked with a variety of wonderful people. Change-work can be hard and finding the right client-therapist fit is important. My skills are best suited for children, teens, and young adults, and those who may be experiencing:

  • ADD, ADHD, & ASD-related issues

  • Anxiety & Depression

  • Oppositional Defiance Disorder & Conduct Disorder

  • Peer & family conflicts

  • Self Esteem & emotional regulation skills

  • Problematic technology use

  • Psychoeducational assessments

If you think we would be a good counselling fit, I would love to hear from you.
